Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Evaluation of 2, 5- disubstituted 1, 3,4 Oxadiazole Derivative

Abstract:

In the present study 2,5 disubstituted 1,3,4 oxadiazole have been synthesized by the condensation of benzoic acid with hydrazine hydrate for half an hour. The intermediate obtained was benzohydrazide which is further refluxed for six hours with phosphoryl chloride as a catalyst and with different aromatic acids such as salicylic acid,toluic acid,2,4 dichloro benzoic acid,cinnamic acid,p-amino benzoic acid(a-e) which yields 2,5 disubstituted 1,3,4oxadiazole derivative.The structural assignment of this compound has been made on the basis of elemental analysis UV, IR, 1HNMR and MASS spectral data. The synthesized compounds were screened for their invitro anti-inflammatory and anthelminti activity with the help of standard drug Diclofenac for anti-inflammatory and piperazine citrate for anthelmintic activity by using perionyx excavates and perionyx sansibaricus. Compound a,c and e showed significant anti-inflammatory activity when compared to b. The compound b and d showed better anthelmintic activity when compared with compound A,C and E.
